TACOMAPROBONO
COMMUNITY LAWYERS

Pierce County’s Free Civil Legal Aid Program

What we do

Tacomaprobono changes lives, fights systemic racism and works against chronic poverty by providing access to timely, effective, professional civil legal aid services for low-income clients.  We are focused on providing efficient, dignified solutions to legal issues affecting basic human needs such as housing and family safety.

Our board, directors, staff attorneys and paralegals work with our clients, volunteer attorneys and community partners to level the playing field for those in our community who face barriers to successfully accessing the civil justice system.

Who we are

Tacomaprobono is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization providing free civil legal aid to low-income individuals who face legal issues in Pierce County, Washington. Our staff includes 22 licensed attorneys, 1 LLLT and 7 paralegals. Volunteer attorneys are an essential part of all our programs; we partner with the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association to support fulfilling service opportunities for volunteer attorneys.

Who we serve

Tacomaprobono’s clients are our neighbors in Pierce County who face legal issues which may deeply affect their lives if not addressed. Our clients cannot afford to hire an attorney, may not be aware that they have a legal issue which can be solved, may not believe that they will be heard, may be afraid to contact a legal aid organization or may not trust the legal system.

Tacomaprobono is here for all — all means all. We have income eligibility requirements for many (not all) of our programs but these may be waived if your legal issue is COVID-19-related. If you’re not sure, please contact us through the online intake form below.
